Schedule Roberta to speak at your next event
I began my career in public speaking when I was five. I memorized a “piece” my Sunday School teacher gave me to present to the annual meeting of the Women’s Missionary Union of the Baptist Churches in Oklahoma City. Someone placed a chair behind the pulpit at First Baptist Church and I stood on it.
I remember looking out over a sea of ladies in hats and gloves and telling about a little girl who got the story of the Widow’s mite all mixed up and thought she was supposed to put her “mitts” (mittens) in the offering plate. It was an inauspicious beginning.
Lately, I have been invited to speak at Divorce Recovery Workshops, groups of people in Retirement, event audiences, whom allow me to talk about the books I have written, and in churches which call on me to preach.
Fortunately, I no longer have to stand on a chair. I have been a Sunday School teacher for 65 years. I began teaching small children, graduated to youth and, for the majority of those years, I have taught adults. I now teach the “from here to heaven” class in my home church.
I do not accept honoraria from groups who allow me to sell and sign books.
